Snow blankets Atlanta, snags work at the city’s firms

Snow and ice shut down law firms on Jan. 10 and Jan. 11, along with the rest of the city. Several of the big firms maintained skeleton staffs but most smaller firms closed.

After Hours: Celebrating Service 2010

Atlanta Mayor M. Kasim Reed was the keynote speaker at the Atlanta Bar Association’s Celebrating Service luncheon and pro bono fair at the Piedmont Driving Club on Oct. 22. The event recognized volunteers from the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and the Atlanta Bar Association. Fulton State Court Judge Susan E. Edlein was chairwoman of this year’s event. The Daily Report was the event’s media sponsor.
The ALM Lawyer Invitational

Atlanta area corporate counsel and law firm leaders met on the golf course Oct. 11, 2010 at Atlanta National Golf Club as part of the nationwide series of golfing events that are part of the ALM Lawyer Invitational. Teams compete to move on to the Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, where they will have the opportunity to play in the 2011 ALM Lawyer Invitational National Championship.
After Hours: Legal administrators group raises $30K

The Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators’ annual Casino Royale: A Sure Bet for Children’s Healthcare on Oct. 5 drew a large crowd from the legal community and raised about $30,000 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
