On Saturday, June 26, about 400 volunteers from law firms, courthouses and corporate legal departments gathered to transform an overgrown, 7-acre abandoned tract—roughly two blocks by one block—into the Kirkwood Urban Forest. Another 40 to 50 volunteers went to DeKalb Memorial County Park (directly south of the Kirkwood Urban Forest, just across Memorial Drive) to plant trees and clear debris. Both projects were part of Service Juris 2010.
